How to Create Your Dream Life and Start Living It

Oftentimes we can get stuck in the routine of our everyday lives and forget what we truly want from life. If this is you, maybe you are looking for something to wake you up and spark your passion for life. This post is a step-by-step guide to the process of creating your dream life from scratch and starting to live it from the perspective of starting a garden.



1. Decide When You Will Start Your Garden

  • You have to set aside time just for yourself to start this journey. Make sure that you are ready for this transformation and can make time for yourself in this way.


2. Prep the Garden

  • Pick a week, a weekend, or however long you have to start the process. Put it on your calendar and tell those close to you that you will be away from your devices and busy during that time.

  • Do, buy, and prepare everything you think you’ll need for this process.


3. Put on Your Gardening Outfit

  • This is about setting the mood. This can include putting on a comfy outfit, lighting candles, or making yourself a picnic outside. Whatever you need to do to create a space that you feel safe to be vulnerable in.


4. Turn Over Soil

  • Journal about: Why are you here making this time for yourself? What has your past contained? Why is now the time? What about your current life does not suit you anymore? What about your current thinking pattern, does it still suit you? What weeds in your life have you been staring at and now it's finally time to get rid of?


5. Choose Your Seeds

  • Write out and think about what you want your dream life to look like. If you are unsure about the large areas, start small. What habits would you like to have in your daily life? If you need help, here are the main areas of your life that you can journal about in order to look at your life holistically: career/school, relationships, finance, health, spirituality, hobbies, and self-love.


6. Plant Your Seeds

  • Create at least 3 actionable goals for each of those 7 categories. These can be big or little goals that can be short-term or long-term. Whatever comes to you in good insight into what you truly want.


7. Water Your Seeds

  • Chose the #1 goal you want to start working on from each of those categories.

  • Prioritize these seven goals in order from one to seven.



8. Sit in the Garden You Just Planted & Breathe

  • Take a second. Thank yourself for taking the time to do this activity and start this journey of actively choosing to live your best life right now.

  • Sit with your goals. Give yourself a couple of hours or a day to sit with these goals to make sure they are doable for you and if they are ordered correctly. Give yourself the time to sit with the work you just did.


9. Tend to Your Garden

  • Starting now, each month for seven months has a goal. I recommend breaking your goal up into actions that you can hold yourself accountable for and reward yourself for throughout the way.


10. Eat the Fruits of Your Labor

  • At the end of each month, journal about the accomplishments you had that month. How did it feel to prioritize and work on goals that drive you to becoming the person you want to be? Where do you want to go from here? What goal do you have for next month and how will you achieve it?

  • If at any point you feel like you need to rearrange the order of your goals or alter them based on how you have changed, go for it! That’s part of the journey, letting yourself change and grow throughout the process and accepting and loving every part of it.
